- Format
- Short course
- Length
- 12 sessions × 90 min
- Ages
- S2–S6
- Group size
- 12–20 students
What students do
- Read a schematic and wire a circuit
- Program a microcontroller
- Use sensors and motor control
- Debug a physical system under time pressure
Tools
- Arduino
- micro:bit
- Sensors
- 3D-printed chassis
The robot is deliberately simple: a chassis, two motors, a few sensors and a microcontroller. The difficulty is in making it reliable.
Teams run the same challenge repeatedly, log failures, and change one thing at a time. The final run is public.
This programme can be adapted for different ages, session lengths and group sizes. Ask for a proposal with a session-by-session outline.

How it runs
Brief
We agree the cohort, timetable and what a finished project looks like.
Build
Students work in teams on a real brief, with a taught input at the start of each session.
Test
Teams measure against constraints and document what failed and why.
Show
A working demo, a short presentation and a record of each student’s contribution.
